News Flash... The Simpsons and Arnie go 'Live'...
The following conversation was "heard" through an electronic grapevine - any resemblance to any persons living, not living or pretending to be alive is purely accidental... (names changed to protect the evil)
Skinny Doug: I understand that the Simpson's is to be made into a live action movie starring Macaulay Culkin as Bart and John Goodman as Homer. Any comments? And who would you like to see playing Apu, Mr Burns and Marge?
Ben L&P: That rumour has been around for a while, since 1999. Most of the so-called "evidence" to support the rumour is pure bunk, so I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. Besides that, look at all the other live action movies based on cartoons. Scooby Doo and the Flintstones spring readily to mind, and they're not exactly shining examples of moviedom.
Skinny Doug: I also understand that Arnold Schwarzenegger has been impressed by Mel Gibson's The Passion, a dramatisation of the last days of Christ, and is contemplating a movie of the early days of Christ with himself as the Big Guy. Unconfirmed reports include Michael Douglas as John the Baptist and James Earl Jones as the Voice of God, with Christopher Walken as Pontious Pilate.
On the Edge of Reality: Hey! Scooby Doo rocked!
Crested Slump: OMFG!! They can't do that to the Simpson's!!!!!!... why ruin a perfectly good (legendary) cartoon? I'll be spewing if they make a live action movie! :o(
Tortured Virgo: Arnie as Christ, The Early Years? Where will they find a manger big enough?
Two Steps Beyond: I assume they'll bring in Arnie as Christ at about 20-something - I also assume that Hollywood's best FX guys have been called to make the 50-something Arnie look like a 20-year old.
Skinny Doug: It gets better... Elton John is now tipped to be working on the soundtrack with additional songs from Phil Collins and N'Sync
Dayglo: Now I'm convinced that you're all making it up... my imagination spun wildly at the vision of a Simpson's movie with 'live' actors (I wonder if they'd be painted yellow?)... The Schwartz himself as the guy who got nailed to a tree pushed me to the outer reaches of the envelope, but... the Elton John, Phil Collins and N'Sync soundtrack combo??... shudder... think I need a mental health day... (ponders whether one would be enough)
Skinny Doug: I must apologise about this posting. It seems my evil twin, Evil Doug, has posted a false rumour concerning a live action Simpson's movie and Schwarzenegger as JC. Neither of these, including the bit about Elton, Phil and N'Sync are true. I apologise if anybody's head got messed up. I have done some old fashioned fact checking and discovered that in fact Jake Lloyd from the Phantom Menace, Bill Murray, Cher and those two cute blonde twins from Full House will be starring as the Simpson's. Fox Movies websites states that the movie will be for purposes of general acceptability will be family friendly with a wholesome message about caring and being there for one another
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be guest starring as an evil Governor of California who plots to seduce Marge but is redeemed by a series of funky, yet clean songs by Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Additional songs from Barry Manilow, Pat Boone and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
To be honest, I'm not sure about the bit about Arnie as a Governor of California.
